Le Paysage Poétique (Poetic Landscapes) is situated in a natural parc called in French "Le Pays des Collines" - "Land of the Hills".
This is a remote and rural area but as Belgium is a very small country, the land of hills is not at all far from culture.
The region is a formally acknowledged natural parc, this means that strong efforts are being made to perserve and refresh local traditions, folklore, characteristic landscaps, architecture and the arts. Lots of artitsts have moved to the area and these "hillpeople by adoption", how they now are called, have helped to uplift local artisanal traditions like pottery, smallscale goatcheese-production and bio-farming. These creative and friendly are always keen to meet and exchange thoughts with international guests interested in their skills.
The hostlady has a background in cultural anthropology and guides at serveral places such as the mediaval hospital (acknowledged as exceptional patrimonium of Wallonia and Europe) and can function as a go-between with other guides in the area. She had personal relations with experts in art nouveau and art deco in Belgium.
